Смотрите биографию в заметках. Boris Abramovich Kuznetsov Boris Abramovich Kuznetsov was born on March 19, 1944, in Kirov, where his family was evacuated from Leningrad during the WWII blockade. In 1975, Boris graduated from Moscow State Academy of Law, with a xxxx degree. From 1962 to 1982, he served in the criminal investigation commanding operations units of the Leningrad and Magadan Departments of Internal Affairs. During this time he participated in uncovering hundreds of crimes, including the theft of dueling pistols from the Alexander Pushkin memorial apartment museum, thefts from the Hermitage and the Russian Museum, and the theft from an industrial gold mine in Chukotka. Since 1982 he is has been engaged as a lawyer in legal advocacy, research and the defense of human rights work. Since 1989, has been advisor to the USSR Association of National Deputies, members of the Interregional Deputy Group. In 1991, he established the Law Offices of Boris Kuznetsov and Partners, which until 1995 belonged to St. Petersburg Bar Association, and in 1995 became part of the Inter-Republic Bar Association. Since 2003, he has been the senior managing partner of the Law Offices of Boris Kuznetsov & Partners, belonging to the Moscow Chamber of Advocates. In the course of defending his client, Federation Council member Levon Chakhmakhchyan, Boris submitted to Russian Constitutional Court a document proving the Russian Federal Security Service's (FSB) illegal wiretappings of Chakhmakhchyan's phone conversations. Based on that action, Kuznetsov has been prosecuted for allegedly revealing state top secrets. The criminal case against Kuznetsov was initiated on the personal request from Federal Security Service director Nikolai Patrushev. To escape persecution for carrying out his duty as a lawyer, Mr. Kuznetsov left Russia in July 11, 2007 and sought political asylum in the United States, which was granted to him on February 12, 2008. He was also accepted to the International Union of Journalists and Writers (London), and was published in newspapers and magazines in the United States and the United Kingdom. In Russia Mr. Kuznetsov participated in the development of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, and the laws dealing with production competition, operational investigation, and weapons. Mr. Kuznetsov participated in the defense of numerous high-profile cases. 1990 – 1991 Represented KGB general Oleg Kalugin in the lawsuit against Mikhail Gorbachev, Nikolai Ryzhkov (Premier of the Soviet Union) and Vladimir Kryuchkov (KGB Chairman and a member of the Politburo). As the Soviet Union underwent changes under Mikhail Gorbachev, Kalugin became more vocal and public in his criticism of the KGB, denouncing Soviet security forces as “Stalinist” domestic political police, although he never disputed the importance of espionage abroad. Finally, in 1990, Gorbachev signed a decree stripping Kalugin of his rank, decorations, and pension. 1994 Represented Oleg Kalugin in a defamation case against Sergey N. Baburin (Vice Speaker of the Russian State Duma and leader of the Party of National Revival “Narodnaya Volya”). Kalugin stated that Baburin collaborated with the KGB. Mr. Kuznetsov’s defense was that an assertion of a legal cooperation with the government authorities could not be construed as defamation of character. 1993 – 1996 Represented the chairman of the Federation Council of Russia, Vladimir F. Shumeyko, in lawsuits against newspaper Izvestia, which accused Shumeyko of plagiarism; against newspaper Den’; against the former Vice President Aleksandr V. Rutskoi; against a former Deputy Prosecutor General Nikolai Y. Makarov; against the host of the television show “The Moment of Truth,” Andrei Karaulov; against the chairman of the State Duma Security Committee, Viktor I. Ilyukhin, and the resulting countersuit. 1989 – 1990 Represented the interests of the Hasidic community in connection with the return of the Schneerson Library. 1996 Defended P. Rozhka in a lawsuit against the Estonian Government concerning unlawful deportation. 1996 – 1997 Defended the Center for Human Rights in the lawsuit against a member of the Estonian Parliament, Mart Nutyu, in connection with accusations that the Center was established by the Russian intelligence Service. 1993 Defended the president of AKB Komibank, V. Vostriakov. 1993 Represented the interests of magazine “Stolitsa” in a libel case initiated by D. K’eze against the publication. 1992 Represented the interests of the weekly publication “Sobesednik” in the case against a fraction of the Russian Federation State Duma, “The Women of Russia” 1994-1996 Represented interests of Artem Tarasov in the UK Royal Court, in the cases against newspapers “Washington Post” and “Herald Tribune,” and in Russia against the newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda.” 1995-1996 Represented interests of the Irish company “Hoverwud, LTD” in the case against Incombank in the Federal Court of the Southern District of the State of New York, to collect unpaid bills. 1997-2000 Represented three American companies in a case against “The Bank of New York.” 1994–1995 Represented International Roerich Center in a case against the Russian government. 1994–1995 Represented “Taganka Actors’ Community Theatre” during the division of The Taganka Theater. 1998–1999 Defended GRU (Russian military intelligence) colonel V. Tkachenko, who was accused of supplying the Israeli intelligence with satellite images. 1994–1995 Represented the late Chief Marshal of Artillery (reduced to the rank of Major General and deprived of the title Hero of the Soviet Union), S. S. Varentsov, in the case against “BBC” and “TV-NOVOSTI,” who made a film, which told a story that more than half of secret information Oleg Penkovsky handed over to the British and American intelligence, were obtained through Varentsov. According to the materials obtained from the archives of KGB and the Military Prosecutor's Office, there was no evidence that Penkovsky received secret documents from Varentsov. The case was won. 2004-2005 Represented the family of Nikita S. Khrushchev in connection with the accusations against Khrushchev’s son, Leonid, that he sided with the Germans, but who in fact died in a fighter plane YAK-9, on March 11, 1943, over the Kaluga region territory. 1994-1995 Defended the Russian People's Artist, George Yumatov, accused of murder. The initial charge, “intentional homicide,” was changed to “excessive force during self-defense,” and then the case was dismissed before trial. 1995 Defended the interests of the Russian Community of Sevastopol and its newspaper “The Black Sea Fleet,” in the Ukrainian court, against the petition of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General for the dissolution of community and closure of the newspaper closed. Были истребованы материалы из архивов КГБ СССР и Главной военной прокуратуры, согласно которым доказательств того, что Пеньковский получал секретные материалы от Варенцова, не имелось. Предсталвял интересы семьи Н.С.Хрущева в связи с обвинениями в адрес сына Н.С.Хрущева – Леонида, обвиненного в переходе на сторону немцев, а фактически погибшего на истрибители ЯК-9 11 марта 1943 года над территорией Калужской области. В 1994—1995 защищал народного артиста России Георгия Юматова, обвиняемого в убийстве. В результате первоначальное обвинение по статье «умышленное убийство» было переквалифицировано на «превышение пределов необходимой обороны», а затем дело было прекращено ещё до суда. В 1995 защищал в украинском суде интересы Российской общины Севастополя и газеты Черноморского флота по заявлению Генеральной прокуратуры Украины о ликвидации общины и закрытии газеты. После оглашения решения, которым в иске было отказано, ему был вручён Андреевский флаг флота. Защищал начальника Главного штаба ВМФ адмирала И.Хмельнова (1998—2000), командующего Северным флотом адмирала О.Ерофеева (2003-2007), начальника вспомогательного флота ВМФ России контр-адмирала Ю.Кличугина (2006-2008), капитана II ранга В.Вербицкого, обвиняемого в шпионаже в пользу Швеции (1990-1992). В 2002—2008 годах представлял интересы потерпевших по делу о гибели атомной подводной лодки «Курск» (55 членов семей подводников). Подверг резкой критике результаты официального расследования обстоятельств катастрофы, в том числе в своей книге «Она утонула. Правда о „Курске“, которую скрыл генпрокурор Устинов». Участвовал а нашумевшем деле «Аэрофлота», защищая вице-презедента компании Александра Красненкера. Предсталял интересы Майи Плисецкой по иску к газете «Московский комсомолец» и лондонскому корреспонденту газеты Владимиру Симонову, защищая ее от обвинения, что она родила ребенка внебрака. Журналист Александр Хинштейн признал, что сведения о принадлежности заместителя начальника ГУВД Москвы генерал-лейтенанта милиции Василия Купцова к преступной групировке, о чем он писал, не соответствуют дейстивтельности. За защиту военных моряков награжден медалью «300 лет Российского флота», золотым знаком «Подводник Военно-Морского Флота России» № 14 и именным кортиком. . In Russia Mr. Kuznetsov participated in the development of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, and the laws dealing with production competition, operational investigation, and weapons. Mr. Kuznetsov participated in the defense of numerous high-profile cases. 1990 – 1991 Represented KGB general Oleg Kalugin in the lawsuit against Mikhail Gorbachev, Nikolai Ryzhkov (Premier of the Soviet Union) and Vladimir Kryuchkov (KGB Chairman and a member of the Politburo). As the Soviet Union underwent changes under Mikhail Gorbachev, Kalugin became more vocal and public in his criticism of the KGB, denouncing Soviet security forces as “Stalinist” domestic political police, although he never disputed the importance of espionage abroad. Finally, in 1990, Gorbachev signed a decree stripping Kalugin of his rank, decorations, and pension. 1994 Represented Oleg Kalugin in a defamation case against Sergey N. Baburin (Vice Speaker of the Russian State Duma and leader of the Party of National Revival “Narodnaya Volya”). Kalugin stated that Baburin collaborated with the KGB. Mr. Kuznetsov’s defense was that an assertion of a legal cooperation with the government authorities could not be construed as defamation of character. 1993 – 1996 Represented the chairman of the Federation Council of Russia, Vladimir F. Shumeyko, in lawsuits against newspaper Izvestia, which accused Shumeyko of plagiarism; against newspaper Den’; against the former Vice President Aleksandr V. Rutskoi; against a former Deputy Prosecutor General Nikolai Y. Makarov; against the host of the television show “The Moment of Truth,” Andrei Karaulov; against the chairman of the State Duma Security Committee, Viktor I. Ilyukhin, and the resulting countersuit. 1989 – 1990 Represented the interests of the Hasidic community in connection with the return of the Schneerson Library. 1996 Defended P. Rozhka in a lawsuit against the Estonian Government concerning unlawful deportation. 1996 – 1997 Defended the Center for Human Rights in the lawsuit against a member of the Estonian Parliament, Mart Nutyu, in connection with accusations that the Center was established by the Russian intelligence Service. 1993 Defended the president of AKB Komibank, V. Vostriakov. 1993 Represented the interests of magazine “Stolitsa” in a libel case initiated by D. K’eze against the publication. 1992 Represented the interests of the weekly publication “Sobesednik” in the case against a fraction of the Russian Federation State Duma, “The Women of Russia” 1994-1996 Represented interests of Artem Tarasov in the UK Royal Court, in the cases against newspapers “Washington Post” and “Herald Tribune,” and in Russia against the newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda.” 1995-1996 Represented interests of the Irish company “Hoverwud, LTD” in the case against Incombank in the Federal Court of the Southern District of the State of New York, to collect unpaid bills. 1997-2000 Represented three American companies in a case against “The Bank of New York.” 1994–1995 Represented International Roerich Center in a case against the Russian government. 1994–1995 Represented “Taganka Actors’ Community Theatre” during the division of The Taganka Theater. 1998–1999 Defended GRU (Russian military intelligence) colonel V. Tkachenko, who was accused of supplying the Israeli intelligence with satellite images. 1994–1995 Represented the late Chief Marshal of Artillery (reduced to the rank of Major General and deprived of the title Hero of the Soviet Union), S. S. Varentsov, in the case against “BBC” and “TV-NOVOSTI,” who made a film, which told a story that more than half of secret information Oleg Penkovsky handed over to the British and American intelligence, were obtained through Varentsov. According to the materials obtained from the archives of KGB and the Military Prosecutor's Office, there was no evidence that Penkovsky received secret documents from Varentsov. The case was won. 2004-2005 Represented the family of Nikita S. Khrushchev in connection with the accusations against Khrushchev’s son, Leonid, that he sided with the Germans, but who in fact died in a fighter plane YAK-9, on March 11, 1943, over the Kaluga region territory. 1994-1995 Defended the Russian People's Artist, George Yumatov, accused of murder.
